No matter what branch of the government is in the White House, the Democrat controlled congress controlled what came to the floor. They could have brought something to the floor but did not, even when the Administration asked them to. So you are right, if the Administration want something done and the Congress wants to play politics, this is what happens.

McCain was pretty decent, as you say, and every Democrats favorite Republican, until he started to run for President. Now the opposing side has to demonize him and I can see they have succeeded, at least with you.

I do not think you are being very open minded yourself. Obama comes from dirty Chicago politics. Look up how he won the his Senate seat. Pure Chicago politics. McCain has been in the Senate for a long time and has a solid record of votes which you can look up. Being a Senator means you have a voting record. Having a voting record means that you have to work with both sides. Working with both sides give the opposition plenty of ammunition. Having a voting record is one of the reasons that Senators usually loose their Presidential bid. That is also one of the reasons that Governors usually run and win. They have experience in a typical Administrative position. We now have two Senators running so the choice is whether you want a crusty old bast*** that has been in Washington for a long time or a corrupt Chicago politition for President?
