What an image!

2. Yes. I told my cousins what I was going out to do. I had to use their car I also told my dad, who made fun of me and said Jews don't eat squirrel, I must have gotten this from my mom's side of the family (rural PA hunters and such.) My aunt and uncle were also told, and laughed about it. They were a little uneasy, but I explained how it's safe, and the fact I had to do the online test made them feel better about it.
My wife reminds me of the Jewish hunting thing and got clarification from the Rabbi, and I listened to the result while eating an unhectured hamburger. I am not interested in wild boar hunting (unless someone else wants to eat it), but squirrel could be downed. I will just take a "bad convert" lecture at worst, and doubt even that given Bloomington standards (inside joke there ).

3. My McCain signs were ordered a month ago or so, and still have not arrived Their CS said they were sent out last friday, and to give em 10 days.
No rush there, not like there's an election going on or anything. I still like the idea though. ("THIS SQUIRREL TRIED TO TAKE MY SIGN AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM!")

4. I believe you want to accompany me on a hike, correct? I mean, you can't go against your wife's wishes and hunt I still feel like I need to go with someone else who has done this before though, as I think I just got lucky on this little bugger, but I'd be happy to go out with you
I think that we could have something here. Call it the "10/22 Hiking Club" and leave it at that. As for experienced help, I would love that too. I am really in it for the skills and training far more than the meat. Although any chance to do jerky is a go for me.

5. I have hunted once before in my life. I took a deer when I was about 14. I had nothing to do with the butchering of it though, and never touched it from time of kill to venison. Mmmmm venison So this is the first thing I have ever gutted and been hands on with after a kill. It was surprisingly easy (except I accidentally cut too much into the tail at first and cut it off, so I had to skin it the ole fashioned way ) and I just watched some videos on how to do it online. I was very surprised I was so at ease also, and that it didn't make me queasy in the least (I actually said a little prayer before butchering lol )
See! The "10/22 Hiking Club" has it's very own shochet! I have prepped fist before but never mammals. But there is always a time to learn.

On a less joking note:

Were you worried about your backstop when you took the shot? Does the area make that not much of a concern?

Thanks.
