They could have done plenty and if it was that important or if they even recognized any problem, they could have brought something to the floor in Pelosi's first 100 days. Problem is, they were addicted to the money flowing out of the now "in crisis" companies for their campaigns. You also seem to forget that many of these regulations were changed to allow "minorities" that had been denied to be able to get a loan, a Democrat issue, which in turn lead to the abuse of the regulations.
