To implement those term limits, a bill would have to be introduced in Congress, be heard (and passed!) by a committee, be voted on by an entire House, then go to the other House and lather, rinse, repeat. We often say that someone else may be "convinced" to do something s/he does not want to do either by persuasion or by force. RAnderson is correct that they will not be persuaded, and force is not an option I think we should at this point in time pursue. The third option is to "rewrite" the political parties such that candidates are nominated for positions based on their respect for and intention to uphold the Constitution. This will not be a quick, easy fix. This will be a process of years, perhaps decades. It may not even be fixed in our lifetimes, even if we began today, this moment, in earnest. Fix it we must, however, or we can expect that our descendants' lives will be much like either Winston Smith's or perhaps Bernard Marx's, if indeed those descendants are ever born.

Blessings,
Bill
