Optics Help

I know next to nothing about scopes. I recently bought a 10/22 rifle, and would like to get a decent scope for it, but I don't want to pay any more than I have to in order to get the most out of it. I used to be a very good shot once upon a time, but my 47 year old eyes don't work so good anymore. I can either see the target or the sights, just not both well enough to be as accurate as i'd like.
