R A 42, WCC 42, E C 42

^What is on the bottom of the casings^

Ok so sorry for the terrible image quality. But these have been bothering me for a while now. They seem to be the same size as a .45 as seen in this picture:

My grandpa gave me a box of ammo (some old and nasty condition) so that I could get familiar with rounds a few years back. this 42 seems almost the same size as the 45 could it have been the original name? sorry im totally clueless to this

also at same size of a 9mm there is one with "47z" on the bottom with a sun. Could it be a Jap round?

Any help would be appreciated
