Compatible? Doesn't sound like it to me. In my experience, different views on firearms are not just different views on firearms, but stem from different assumptions and worldviews that lead to differences on many things. Frankly, I think if the relationship would have continued you may have found you differed on a whole host of subjects from politics, to child raising, etc.

Consider yourself lucky. The relationship ended before you were so emotionally involved you couldn't think objectively. My guess is that after you're happily settled down (if that's your goal), you'll be thankful.
