My wife was raised around hunters and gunracks, but never really saw any enjoyment in it herself - she didn't want to kill any critters, and that's what guns meant to her. I would go shooting from time to time and always offer to let her come along, and one day she agreed..

She didn't really like it or dislike it, one way or another. She mentioned it casually when she was talking to her dad, though, and he praised the idea, talking about how shooting is a skill that you really ought to develop before you ever need it, and taking into account the amount of crazy in the world, you never know just when you WILL need it..

It was like a lightswitch. She ASKED to go to the range. She wanted to learn more, try different things and gain that experience.

Everybody's different - some folks (men and women) warm to it on their own, some need encouragement from others, and some will just never come around. I know some of each category..
