You may be able to use the boolits on spears or arrows. If you could hollow out the end of a nice stick, place a small pebble or BB in the bottom of the hole... Then you could insert the boolit in the end in such a way that when it makes impact with an object it would fire. Might be a little tough but I think it is a realistic option. .45 would make a beautiful spear tip!
