The Amish near Turkey Run are great people in my book. My grandfather used to have a little farm about 20 minutes from the park, and when he decided to buy a retired trotter and a buggy he hired an Amish craftsman to do all the leatherwork and help set up the buggy. I took one ride with him during the process and while he was teaching me how to drive a cart he told me that many of the children born Amish decide to leave the community for the comforts of modern living. He told me that they tend to want TV, and computers, and phones as teenagers, but after they become adults a large number choose to give these things up and return to the lifestyle and community. So, yes, it is possible for one person who is not presently living an Amish lifestyle to become part of the community.
