| You may be able to control with diet alone, as I am. Seems like Drs automatically prescribe pills, as they did with me. But whatever it was they prescribed me (Glubyride or something similar) I really hated, it kept making me dizzy. I asked the doc if we could try going without meds, and with aggressive control over what I'm eating I'm keeping most tests in the 100-125 range, only twice over 150 in six month since being diagnosed, both times I knew I was pushing.
I do take medicine for a heart arythmia, but as I continue losing weight and getting in shape the pulse is slowing on it's own, and I've learned ways to stop an episode if they occur. If SHTF, I'd have to find ways to make do, valsalva maneuver and taking a nap being the two most likely for me.
Surviving an emergency situation is all about "never give up, never surrender." If you know you have medical issues, find ways around them. If you HAVE to have meds, stock up on them as much as you can. Do whatever it takes, cause a Dr ain't gonna be much help, to be honest.
