Unfortunately, early in our nation's history, we had true statesmen, but politicians slowly took over to the point that I cannot think of any current elected official whom I would call a statesman--such a person would find it essentially impossible to be elected!
Now, politicians are being replaced by celebrities, with our current resident of the White House as the premier example.
Jay, I'm afraid I agree: the United States will "fall" in the foreseeable future--perhaps, even sooner than we imagine. |
