Yup, that pretty much covers it. Most of the young ones have now been kicked out of mom's nest or den, and are now fending for themselves. Summer nests serve several purposes, one is a shady place, up in the breeze, out of sight of birds of prey, where they can nap during the heat of the day. Nests also provide fairly good protection from night preditors, and will provide some cover from the rain.
