He might get away with this, however it would not be, as he asked, legal. This would be permissible if he was driving across IL to get somewhere he could legally possess the firearm, however since his business is in that state, that is his destination, and therefore, no, he cannot use the Peaceable Journey law.

To legally transport a firearm into IL under federal law (since state law forbids), you must be a LEO. If I am mistaken, someone please show me how- I'd like to be wrong on this.
