It's great that you teach your daughter the constitution and get her involved in thinking about politics...however what makes it ok for a child to deride an ADULT about what their politics are? Would it be ok for a child whose parents are Catholics telling ADULT Babtists they are why the country is in the shape it is? I'm all for teaching our kids what has made, and will continue to make our country great. I also think children have to be taught and reminded they need to show adults respect even if they hold different ideas than their parents. |
If my daughter does get into a political debate with an adult it is done in a VERY respectful way. She has current events, news articles, etc to back up her statements that she makes. And I will NEVER and I mean NEVER tell her to be disrespectful in anyway whatsoever. As a matter of fact I am told by MANY people that I have some of the most respectful children they have ever encountered. So before you go any pass any judgment on what my daughter may say or how she may say it, you may want to ask how the conversations go. I am not trying to get into a debate, but to make it crystal clear, I teach my children to respect adults until such time as they dont warrant or deserve respect. Then mom and dad get involved. As for the question, it is really a loaded question, because do I feel and teach my children that right now with what is happenening in this country that yea, the biggest part of it is because of the election of Obama. I ask the same question of MANY people that I encounter, and none have been offended, they just say ok, sometimes they want to get into a political debate with me, and they better have a long time and some tough skin...
LOL..
