| I usually aim for the heart. I have aimed for the lungs and on a doe I hit her in the lungs, she ran about 45 yards, stopped, and started walking away. I hit her again in the lungs and she ran another 20 yards and stopped. I hit her again in the heart and she went another 40 yards or so and stopped. So I said screw it and hit her in the heart with the 4th shot and dropped her. This was confirmed when I field dressed her and the lungs were pretty much obliterated and the heart was missing the bottom third of it. Since then, I haven't been able to bring myself to take the chance on the lungs again. Also, I've never had a problem with a blood trail diminishing after hitting the heart. |
