I've also thought through this, I keep a couple sheets of plywood in the barn so if there is a Zombie attack and can hole up in the basement and use the plywood to control access to the basement. with just a few sheets I could wall off the whole house and go out from the dormers to the roof and pick off zombies from the roof. |
Have you not read the zombie survival guide? The basement is the worst possible place you can go, get in an attic or upstairs then destroy the stairs. Great job on the plywood - I've yet to get around to that.
Anyway, it's funny this was mentioned, I was just reviewing the security of my house. I rate mine very poor the reasons follow:
Positive:
Well armed + well-armed neighbor
2 people to defend + more given the scenario
Large open yard
Negatives:
Old entry doors with windows
Non-reinforced doorways
Lots of old windows and 4 ways to enter the home
No basement
Crawlspace - if I were a burglar I'd go in this way and saw-jaw my way in
Sliding glass door - HORRIBLE IMO
