One of the easiest ways I can think of is inside the router. Many have opportunities to set "static" DHCP addresses. Basically pin a certain IP address to a machine id (the unique number that each network card has.) This would probably given you what you need for a static ip, without having to manually configure DNS, etc. at the client.
