Just to echo what's already been said, this stuff sucks. In 4 instances I have seen this in different class (both that I took, and taught) it resulted in 5 different guns blown up. Yup, one incident the guy blew up 2 guns in one class before learning the lesson.

This is of course with their rifle ammo particularly in 5.56, but one bad apple and I'm not checking for two.

Just my 2 cents.

On the issue of HSM. Taught a 2 day carbine a few weeks back just before I left, one student had HSM ammo. Day 1, shot1, malfunction. the story repeated the entire day. I literally lost count well into the double digits on malfunctions. At lunch time day 1 he changed ammo, issue disappeared. only had 1 malfunction in about another 600 rounds. That's enough to keep me away from that stuff too.

Holy cow! That is crazy...I'd venture to say I have shot 3000+ rounds of the .223(5.56) ammo without one single failure.

2 rifles in one class? OUCH!

It was an expensive day for him. One would think after number 1 you would learn, guess not.

As I recall, that was the ONE time I've been at a class when someone had issues and no one would loan him a blaster.

At least not until he secured some new ammo.
