This is HIGHLY unlikely, and most likely a statement made by someone who really needs to work on the fundamentals of shooting.

Most handgun sights are between $80 and $160. Google for "Novak Sights, Big Dot Sights, Sure Sights, TruGlo Sights, Meprolight Sights." Or even just "Aftermarket Handgun Sights"

All of the US Army Pistol and Rifle Marksmanship books I've read say that all fire should be well aimed. I'm pretty sure that includes using the sights and is not referring to shooting by index.

See my first response above.... Again.

At arms length, I might believe this. Otherwise see my response #4

I appreciate the service of the people who showed you how to shoot. However everyone I know who has been in the Military, or any flavor of law enforcement that I have gone shooting with, uses their sights.

Index shooting at less than arms Length I agree, you can hit center mass without using your sights. Beyond that use your sights. See Post #2 for a number of sight suggestions.
