| Twenty Dollar Transfers for Members ![]() | Red dot sight for handguns What are members opinions on a floating red dot sight? I put a Tasco Propoint on a Rossi Cyclops 357 revolver and so far cannot make a judgement as to how it compares to open sights. I am getting back into shooting and between being away for eight years, eyes not a sharp as they used to be, and not being able to hold my hands as steady as before, I and not consistant enough to make a judgement. Perhaps I should use a rest to help me keep a tighter group. This is the only one I ever shot with so have nothing to compare to. Opinions please???

![]() | I use a red dot on my Buckmark. Find it to be faster and easier on my old trifocal eyes. Iron sights are, to me, more precise as the dot obscures some of the bull while you hold the front sight under the bull (target sight picture). Also have "dots" on a 45-70 Guide gun, CX-4 Storm carbine and a 44mag Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter. None of these are really target guns so the speed of the red dot is a plus. Especially true on the big Marlin. Just throw it up to your sholder and the dot appears right on target. Wish they would let me use it for Friday Nite Steel. I'd even replace the plates after we were through (and before going to the emergency room to have my shoulder set). It's a personal choice. Use what works for you. |
