![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have two Swarovskis, and the difference that I've noticed is, I can stare through them for hours and not have eye strain. FOV, clarity, low light, I cannot tell the difference compared to other high-end scopes from other manufaturers, NF, Leupold, Burris, and that's why I buy other scopes for elk, muleys, bear, where I'm using a binicular to spot, and the rifle scope to shoot. With more than a dozen rifle of various calibers, including Nightforce with Mildots, there is nothing I'd rather look through for a week of long shooting than that Swarovski. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I was just noticing that when ever you see scope recomendations for high end scopes everyone always says nf or usoptics or another more tactical brand and was curious as to why a scope like swarovski or kahles wouldn't be a good competition scope. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I was talking about your post with my brothers this weekend, and I think it may just be marketing demographics. My hunting buddies (strictly hunting) have never heard of NF, and my brother has been talking about the military line of NF and Schmitt/Bender for years (Army Ranger), some of the black rifle guys swear Leopolds/Swarovskis are only for hunting, they want the Military line with the software and cheat cards for long range, unknown range situations. I'm not sure the two cross paths very often, never seem to see NF ads in the hunting mags, I don't read up on the Military side, maybe someone here can comfirm whether Leopold/Burris/Swarovski have ads on that side of the market. From a usage point of view, all I have is my experience (Non-military), and Swarovski's are very easy on the eyes for coyote/prarie doggin, using the scope for hours versus my binoculars. To answer your question directly, there is no reason why a Kahles/Burris/Swarovski would not work well for competition shooting. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think it has to do with ruggedness of the us optics and nightforce.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the USO and NF are designed to stand up to some pretty extreme abuse and hold zero and track properly... for a hunting rifle i dont think it matters too much as long as you arent throwing your rifle from a tree stand. there is a case from afganastan where a NF took a bullet through the tube but was still able to work...

![]() | I like Nightforce. I personally think they make the best scope. Nikon 2nd. Both are great for night hunting. I once was talking to a guide out of Montana. He told be the toughest scope he has ever seen is the Burris Gold series. He had alot stories to tell of guns falling from horses and breaking. |

![]() | I have a swarovski on a 243 that I use for coyote hunting and target shooting. I have no problems with looking through the scope for long periods of time. And as far as enduring "rugged" situations, the scope has held up just fine. I've fallen with it in a field and it's been just fine as far as the lenses, other than being knocked slightly off zero in the fall, I've never had a problem with it. |
