| wheelman for hire ![]() | what recoil pad do you recommend? As the title says, what recoil pad do you recommend? My golden state arms mauser in 30-06 has a wood stock, with plastic butt plate. It bruised the heck out of my shoulder today and would like to find a good recoil pad to put on it for now till i can afford a new stock. Any suggestions? I will admit that after a while of my shoulder hurting, I did go to my car and grab a old sweatshirt. Put the sleeves together and doubled them over to try to help. It helped but could still be better.

![]() ![]() ![]() | I use a towel with my Milsurps. It doesn't mess with the original setup of the rifle and it works. When I'm done it can wipe my sweat or wipe the cosmoline from my guns. Yes, people will sometimes make fun of you. Being used to unpopularity, I have no problem with that. |

![]() | Sims LimbSaver the things are great. You can get a slip-on for around $30 and use it on other guns that it will fit. I have a old H&R Model 88 12 Ga. that kicks like a mule and I don't consider myself sensitive to recoil put Sims on can shoot all day long now. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Shooting from the bench with a bipod intensifies the recoil from any rifle. It is why I don't shoot from the bench. Position shooting with a sling is just as accurate and much more comfortable because the the slung up arm takes up much of the recoil. IMO, rifles are not designed or intended to be shot from a bench. (unless it is a specialized benchrest rifle) 30.06 bolt rifles with steel buttplates are shot every day with a shooting sling with no damage to the shooter. JMO |

| wheelman for hire ![]() | well I was using the bipod cause if I can find a good spot I'll be shooting prone anyways. This is the rifle I want to hopefully setup to be able to shoot at 1000 yards anyways. If I can get the accuracy out of it I think its capable of then it'll be what I use.

![]() | Kick-eez rocker pads are really nice but around $40. G-squared stock actually lets the gun move back into your shoulder while the comb and pad stay fixed that cost around $1500 lol. You could get a fully adjustable robo stock for around $900 that does the same thing but it looks a little different. I'm a trapshooter and we go to great lengths to get a good gun fit with managable recoil for hundreds of rounds daily. A bit overkill for an ocassional shooter. |

![]() ![]() | I bought 2 of the Limb Saver slip on recoil pads at the Greenfield Wal-Mart last month for $19.99 each. There were more that were labled Winchester, that looked like the same pad. Does anyone know if they are? They work great on my light wieght 12ga.'s
