    Remember FLETC (all 4 of them) are part of Homeland Security. There are up to 3,000 students at any given time there. If they fire 500 rounds in a day at the range, that 1.5 million rounds if they just went to the range once. They go many times in training.

    If they were stockpiling ammo, it'd have to be twice that to create any type of inventory.

    Ammo purchased by DHS probably doesn't stay on hand longer than a year.

The award will provide for the procurement of 5.56 mm small caliber ammunition. Work will be performed in Independence, Mo., with an estimated completion date of Sept. 14, 2013. One bid was solicited, with one bid received. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Rock Island, Ill., is the contracting activity (W52P1J-09-D-0027).
