Looking for .22 long (not Long Rifle) local Indy area

Has anyone seen any .22 long locally for sale. I have an old Winchester 1890 and looking for some .22 Long.

Are you sure it will not chamber .22LR????

I have one too and it has been shooting .22LR for as long as anyone remembers. YMMV

no im not sure, just assumed it needed to be long only. Gun is not in my hands yet.

Even if it was chambered for long it more than likely would work fine with shorts.

IIRC, Long and Long Rifle, have the same case length.... Don't know if that means they interchange ....

Well, in my experience, they are built like a tank. I have a 2nd model built around 1906 and it has been shooting LR forever. I don't use hyper-volocity, but it eats standard bulk pack ammo fine.

As I said, it's marked .22 long, but .22LR works fine.

According to wikipedia the OAL for 22 Long is .888 in. and 22 LR is 1.000 in.

I have an 1890 as well, but been rebarreled with a Model 90. Same thing, just different years. But, I shoot 22LR through it. Just have to cycle slowly so it doesn't nose it in and jam up

I have 5 100 count boxes of it that my wife bought for me by mistake last year at Gander Mountain. Cost was $13.00 per 100. I would gladly sell it at that price. It is CCI CB22 LONG. It is lead round nose, 29 grain bullets, 710 FPS. These are the plastic CCI boxes, all unopened. Only problem is that I'm from Terre Haute.

To answer your question OP, no. The only place I run into 22 long is gun shows and you won't find it and each and every show. When I see the old guys with old boxes of ammo I look closely. I can usually find old CCI for $6 per 100 rounds. I actually like to shoot 22 largo out of long barreled 22lr rifles cause it's very quite and more powerful than those powderless Aquilas.
