Conflicting reloading info

How do you guys handle the situation where two reloading info sources give different information on a particular load? For instance, my 49th edition Lyman manual has 2.0g Winchester 231 as the starting load for a 90g 380 round and 2.9g as the max.

The loading data that came with the Lee dies has the starting load as 3.1g with a 3.2g max using the same powder. I know that the different manufacturers can come up with different numbers based on their own testing, but I was wondering what experienced reloaders do when they come across the situation where one references starting load is higher than another references max load.

(BTW, I'm quoting these numbers from memory, so don't trust them too much)
