Varget is a good case filler and a great power (very consistant). Works great in ARs and Bolt Guns. Biggest question: What are you using to fire these loads? My former AR fun was fueled by a little Varget, but primarily AA2230, very consistant, great pressure curve and clean, not to mention awesome velo with heavier bullets (at least with .223). Used less than Varget (charge weight) for similar velo.

Varget is a very good powder for medium and heavy 223 loads and also for 308 loads. Other powders are also excellent for these applications.

I use Reloader 15 in my 69, 75, and 80 grain 223 loads. I prefer 4064 in my 308 loads, but RE15 is good too. I have used Varget in the past, but not in the last 5 years at least.

varget is a good powder for 223 and fairly popular but has been hard for me to find occasionally; so I only use it for my 17 Remington and 22br.-----------blc2, 2230, and xterminator are my choice for 223.

WLW is on a distinguished road
I use it in my .308 hunting loads due to its ability to withstand drastic tempurature changes. I'm sometimes in situations where my gun and ammo can experince a 60/70 degree change. Call me fussy, but I like to know I'm getting all I'm suppose to out of my rounds.

I really like it and it's clean burning and I can shoot very good groups with Barnes Triple Shock bullets (my preferred hunting bullet). I will say (as someone else mentioned) it does fill the case as I use 46.1 grns in a Winchester 308 case and you can hear the powder crunching a bit when seating the bullet. Keep in mind the Barnes bullets are very long so that does contribute to the compression of the powder.

Varget is popular due to consistency and ability to throw consistent charges through powder measurers. It is also on the lower end of temp sensitivity.

The whole shooting community, me being one of the only exceptions, has been enamored with Varget since it's inception. I've tried it in quite a number of applications and I'm yet to find an application that can't be better filled with something different. I bought 24# of the stuff when it first was released and I have less than 8# left, so I have tried but it just doesn't ring my bell.

I have found better powders for specific calibers, but not many that are decent across multiple varying platforms. One of Varget's strengths that hasn't been mentioned is that it has a high degree of temperature stability, it doesn't change characteristics from cold to hot.
