Now There Really Is An Asteroid To Be Concerned About

Remember this thread, from a few days ago? Nothing much to worry about there. Now comes news that there IS an asteroid to be somewhat concerned about. Best thing is that it's a good few years off. Bad news is that some of us will be too damned old to do much if it did hit us. Yeah, 2040 seems like a long way off. Here's hoping it threads the keyhole or that the science Johnnies figure out how to kill off a football stadium sized killer rock.

Hopefully we won't leave this up to NASA to solve.

Not to worry, plans for the destruction of Earth to make way for an interstellar bypass have been on file for quite a while. The Vogon's are just doing their jobs....

Meh. President Gingerich will have the moonbase colony operational long before that time and I'll just go up there and and watch the fireworks.

What, you're not comfortable leaving the survival of our planet to a government agency using equipment supplied by the lowest bidders?

But if it hits the earth and we gain mass, we'll pull the moon down from increased gravity. Now, if the moon lands in a desert in Arizona, everyone will say it was faked.

This is a more accurate statement of my position: Humanity's long term survival is too important to trust to government. The planet will get along just fine with or without us.

Hopefully it is full of lead and we can melt it down to make more ammo.

It's full of lead? Well, I feel better now. The EPA will just pass new regulation that will simply not allow it to hit the earth.
