Kenya buys cropdusters as tactical aircraft..

I know there are a few aviation buffs on INGO, thought I would post this. It looks like Kenya is buying armed crop duster aircraft. They will be armored and armed. I didn't know this was possible.

Those aircraft can lift pretty heavy loads- over 9,000 lbs in this case, turn on a dime and operate feet from the ground when flown by a decent pilot. According to the website, it can cruise at 191 mph and obviously, it would dive faster. In a ground attack role where the opposing force has no aircraft? Interesting.

Yeah, 9K is a decent amount of 100lb bombs and machine gun ammo....Armor it against small arms weapons and it would be formidable.

Yeah I know it seems crazy on the face of it but that plane is a damn good choice in the right situations. Also highly survivable in a crash.

Great aircraft for a "low intensity" fight, ie. air strikes against insurgents and other combatants equipped with small arms and very minimal or no anti-air capability.

The Iraqi Air Force is operating AC-208 Combat Caravans...I'd take a converted cropduster every day and twice on Sunday over a damn Caravan!
