AtoZ in Northcrest has best prices($2 over spot) for silver rounds (Silvertowne/RMC/GoldenStateMint) or 'less than perfect' American Eagles (basically not new).
Fairfields has best prices for 90% US silver coins, they sell in bags of ten dollars of face value so (40 quarters or 100 dimes).
Mr.Wimps has best prices for silver dollars (Morgans/Peace).
[EVERYBODY in Fort Wayne charges too much for perfect, new American Eagles, Pandas, Canadian dollars, etc.]
I've good things about Fairfield's, but for me I've never really been too into the coins. I prefer bullion and when I go that route I go to a couple of websites like JB Bullion, APmex, etc and I'll toss everything I'm thinking about into a cart and see what the total is after shipping and taxes. I buy bullion because I'm not up to speed on what coins weigh or what their value is. Part of my reasoning for the bullion is that if I ever have to trade/barter with it I'm probably going to be dealing with someone who doesn't have a precious metals education and having metals with weight stamped right on it makes it pretty clear what we're dealing with.
I'm interested in what you find locally in the Fort though, maybe I'll change my ways and start getting into coins. Currently I only get into the silver eagles, but everything else is bullion.
It's still up 50% from when I got some circa '09. 50% in 7-8 yrs.... unfortunately my investment was very small...
I should have sold in ~'12 or whenever it was spiking around $40+/oz...
good time to get some now...
Precious metals are one time where I will especially not be buying through ebay. I buy a lot of stuff through ebay, but there's way too many fakes out there to be trying to exchange currency for currency on there.
Junk silver (90%) US coins are good for trade - they have recognized value and people see them as money already. Have dealt with AtoZ and Fairfields and haven't seen much difference.
Now those silver half crowns and sixpence are going to be a tougher sell at trading time...
