    Just goes to prove that you can never trust the government. There is almost never any communication between agencies, even when it appears obvious that there should be. Also, never give your beloved objects to a government agency or insurance company always send pictures, etc. Maybe get an attorney involved too.

    Yep, that lady has had to have spent 10's of thousands in Attorney fees by now to recover the bag. Will most likely have to sell it to recover her costs...

    So wait... it was stolen by a museum operator? Was it NASA's property at that time (eg on loan to museum)? It should have been returned to NASA, not put up for auction if that was the case. If it had already been sold by NASA to the museum, then it would be legit to be returned to the woman. Not enough info in the article for me to say if I agree....

    Seems like an employee stole something from the government. Then the government got it back in a raid and eventually sold it to her at auction. Then a different branch said "wait, that's ours!"
