![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A Quick Question for the Indiana Officers Or Anyone Who Might Know My new stereo has a built in DVD player, that requires the parking break to be engaged in order for the DVD player to work, as well as setting destinations for the navigation. Now, I have no desire to roll around and watch DVDs while I am driving, but I have a young son that can really get on your nerves if not kept entertained...Is it illegal to have video media playing from the front seat, or is the warning sign when the player is starting up saying "viewing while driving is strictly prohibited" put on there to cover their a$$ from lawsuits? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm under the impression that Indiana law makes it illegal for a driver to be able to view video. Does your deck have a video out to feed the video to remote screens while blanking out the front screen? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah, I figured it was illegal even though I think having a DVD player in view of the front seat isn't nearly as dangerous as having an iPod hooked up to your stereo and trying to sift through songs, or the 100's of people I see everyday typing out text messages will driving. I already did the bypass where you just insert a wire into a certain empty slot on the wiring harness and ground it, thus bypassing the parking break, but I still don't want to get a ticket trying to appease my little hellion. I'm not sure if there is a way to turn the front screen off and have another video feed running to a screen in the back, since I already did the bypass, but it doesn't matter because I could just have the navi screen on instead of the DVD screen. | |

..... I believe that soon it will illegal to text while driving and heaven help you if you are in a crash and they get ahold of your text record and you were texting when you crashed.... remember the engineer in that train crash in CA if he hadn't died he would have spend time in prison.

| Zombie Executioner ![]() | As a car audio/video installer Indiana state law makes it Illegal to watch media while the car is in motion FROM drivers seat (in dash screen in front cabin of vehicle). There are companies that make visor's with screens built in so front passenger can watch it in their visor. We always bypassed the (P) sensor just because most people don't care about that law. We also would install remote starts on Manual Transmissions as well. They just had to sign a waiver for either action stating we are not responsible for their actions. Depending on the rear screens wiring (factory or aftermarket) some people would buy a el-cheapo dvd player and have it run the back monitors. Just get a 12v-110 converter from sams club to power the dvd player. I think its about 40-50$. But if you are in a SUV/Van I wouldn't be too concerned about it. With car manufacturers putting screens in the back of front seats, I have noticed less people getting pulled over for it (customer feedback). They tend to target the younger croud that seem to swerve all over the road that have over 5,000 watts in their trunk and screens all over the car. Just my ![]()
