And I remember seeing A-10 Warthogs all the time while I was growing up in Crawfordsville. I THINK I was told they were stationed in the Danville, IL area? I could watch the war birds fly all day long and never tire of it. Just amazing! It's REALLY cool to be working on a piece of large road equipment and see the F-16s use you as they practice target aquisition. Big Yellow Earth Auger with a 20' tall mast = good target. -J-

![]() ![]() ![]() | For the most part the 122nd does two training flights each day, one in the mid to late morning and later in the afternoon. It can range from one plane to a hand full. I live on the flight path of finial approach on the South West side of town just north of the airport and see (hear) them all the time. We will be loosing the F-16s in the future and will be replaced with the A-10 Wart Hog... Scott

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | When I was in boyscouts one of the leaders had an internal connection and 10 of us got to go up and watch them take off for a night training mission. We got to stand "right beside" the runway or as close as they allow you (about 80 yards or so). It was incredible, you could feel the rumble in your chest, and it was loud with ear muffs on. They even used afterburners, and it was the coolest thing to see the rings that close at night. |
