The wife had some gelato in Ohio last week, and now she is craving it. Does anyone know some good places around Indy, Lafayette, or somewhere within an hour and a half of Kokomo?

    Help me out please...

The wife says there is a place in Clay Terrace in Carmel, she doesn't remember the name but it's in front of Dick's sporting goods next door to Cafe Patachou (sp?).

I've found custard more prevalent here in Indiana. Most "corporate" shops try gelato, but it doesn't really work out well. Homegrown gelato is one of the things I miss dearly about the Buckeye State..

Does Snowbear in West Lafayette still sell it?

Not a fan, but I have seen it in there when I've taken the office crew to lunch during summer (we walk to Scotty's or some place and then the girls always want to go to Snowbear).

Have you had it? Is it any good? Do they have some type coffee flavor? (gag)
I have not had it, but I did overhear the owner of the shop describing it to another customer one day. IIRC, he actually imports it from Italy... although I might be remembering it wrong. Maybe it's a brand that's the closest he's found to authentic Italian gelato. They usually have 6-8 flavors, but I'm surprised he still sells it, considering Cold Stone Creamery is literally next door to him. :)

Not sure about Snowbear - it is still there, I just have no clue if they sell Gelato.

Anyway, if I had to recommend a place in the Lafayette area for gelato, it would be Greyhouse Coffee at the corner of Northwestern and State St. in the Village.

    Greyhouse Coffee & Supply Co.

I have personally sampled their Gelato and reccomend it w/o reservation.

Rookie - It's here in Kokomo.

I don't know the name of the place for sure (Sartinnos?)

He makes it daily. A bunch of flavors.

It's that new place over where Markland Ave. and Dixon road meet.
Next to the Wildcat creek. Looks like a garage pole building but
it's a restaurant. Good stuff. AND he has the REAL gyros.
