I follow him on a very regular basis. This guy can write! Having been a "dumb grunt" for 22 years, he makes me feel the sweat, taste the dust and see the frustration in every patrol yet recognize the unending commitment of each and every trooper.

Perhaps the highlight of what I have read was his series of photos and associated narrative about a shootout in Mosul in 2005, involving the battalion commander and sergeant major (among others). Here is the shortcut if anyone is interested.

I have never read Michael Yon but will add this to my regular reads now. Also some very good pictures on his site.

Yeah I read his dispatches... always great photography... too bad he got kicked out from his embed with the Brits
