![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wireless Router Fried? 2 weeks ago when we had the bad storms my internet went out. It came back online but has been running slow and I had to plug directly into my computer... My wireless router would show a great signal but wouldn't connect me. I have a comcast guy out here right now and he is trying to speed things up but he tells me my wireless router probably got fried and I need a new one? Is this true computer people?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Could be true. Sounds like it is. If you do a complete power-down and reboot of everything, and the problem still exists, it's very likely that either the router or your computer is the problem. If you have other computers in the house, do they hook up just fine? If not, it's probably the router. If you don't have other computers, and yours is a tower/desktop, you might also look at your wireless card. But honestly, it sounds like the router is stick-a-fork-in-it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the offer Lars. I'll need this for as long as it will last so I should probably just buy my own. Any suggestions? I had a Buffalo Airstation

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm reading review where people loved the older version of that model and hate the new one. Would some one like me who just wants to be connected with out wires even notice?

| INGO Bishop of Bacon ![]() | Probably not. One of the big advantages of the WRT54G series is that you can load your own firmware on them. Not all of that series will allow it. That said, the stock firmware is fairly decent quality, and now that Cisco owns Linksys, they have a better technological backend.

| INGO Cardinal of Communications ![]() | No. the only people who care are the ones trying to replace linksys's operating system with something else. the V6 works just fine for normal use. Since I have to have the residential gateway for my U-Verse, and that includes WiFi, the Linksys is just sitting around. I can bring it by after work tonight if you want.
