Do you believe in using corporal punishment for your children?

Pretty simple question. Yes or no and why or why not?

No. I find I get much better results with grounding, staying in their life everyday, and checking the homework every day.

I think teaching and expecting respect gives me better results then spanking. Never have spanked my daughter. People are always telling me that she is the most polite, funny and delightful child they ever met.

I would tell you how I really feel about this subject but I'm afraid my views on this subject are "archaic and ignorant" and may offend an "intelligent parent" .

A parent who's obvious Superior intelligence may lead them to get their precious little feelings hurt and cry to a mod who in turn , will dole out another infraction for me without the benefit of any sort of fact finding .

Gee , now I know how you LEO's feel when you get bashed for something you haven't even done .

WAY TO GO !

I've met her father and have no doubt she is just as pleasant and respectful as he is.

Hope she's still enjoying that canoe.

I have a ten year old daughter that has been spanked three times in her life. I can only remember why on two of the three. She is a great girl and very low maintainence.

But overall I think spanking is acceptable and should be used more in this society.

Funny, you seem to be doing some of that yourself...

And for the record. Here is why I made this thread. Not because another one got closed. But I would prefer this thread dealt with home...not school.

Should schools still use the paddle?

The Indianapolis Star is working on a story about the increasing number of Central Indiana school districts banning corporal punishment as a form of discipline. We want to hear what you think.
Most districts in central Indiana counties specifically bar teachers and administrators from striking children. And of those that still do allow it, one is poised to change that policy and administrators in most of the others don't paddle children even when allowed to.
The federal government estimates that 577 Indiana children were paddled in schools during the 2006-2007 school year, the last year for which data were available.

Advocates of paddling say that it is an effective way to get a disruptive child's attention. Opponents say that it teaches violence and is not appropriate for educators to be involved in.

You got an infraction, on a website for Hoosiers, on the World Wide Web. Has your real life changed since you received it?

As a reminder, no one would've even known about it had you not told them.

It was applied to me as a child but I did not feel the need to apply it as a parent. There are other ways to correct your children than to give them a red rear.
I would not tell someone else that they are wrong, as I do not consider it child abuse...at least at the level that was applied to me.
