![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ipod Question Alright, so a few weeks back I somehow managed to run over my Ipod(yes, yes, I know I'm a genius). All it did was run over the screen. It still played music, but I just couldn't see what I was doing. So I bought a new screen online and installed it myself, following the directions to a T and not messing anything up. Once installed, I turned it on and all it shows is a white screen with an Ipod with a frowny face that says: Apple - Support - iPod + iTunes. Anybody know how to fix this? I don't really feel like sending it in and paying an arm and a leg to get it fixed. Thanks. |

I do know that it has diag logs in the Ipod that can be erased. That may help. If it won't sync right you may have scratched or otherwise damaged the board itself. In that case you'd just be better off buying a SanDisk Sansa... ![]() BTW, I hate Ipods because they think they own the market so everyone calls all MP3 players Ipods. Gets on my nerves I guess. I use mine for my truck radio with an FM transmitter. Who needs a thousand dollar stereo system???

![]() I work with HP crappy buisness computers all day and I've seen the stupidest thing make a systemboard go bad. Anything from a burnt out resistor, the SMALLEST scratch that you almost need a magnifying glass to see, ink pen markings across PCB routing within the board, even a small crack or scratch where there seems to be nothing around it can make a board go bad in some way. My advice is to take it apart again, get you some kinda magifier, and look the WHOLE thing over REAL good. Since you've replaced the screen Apple will not do work on it without charging you just about as much if not more than the Ipod is worth. I used to refurbish the Audiovox 6600 and 6700 so I know how they are with service and I'm sure Apple is no different. Especially since they realized even hardware safeguards couldn't stop crackers from unlocking the Iphone....

Now you are at the mercy of what you can find to circumvent whatever Apple antipiracy BS has been built in. It's a software or firmware issue. It needs to be reflashed or something like that. I used to do Motorola warranty repair. As far as warranty or other service, no one will touch it, as you have committed an AFR (attempted field repair.) Google is your friend and good luck.
