| Shooter | My Conseco Fieldhouse experience. My friend's mom won a party at Howl at the Moon tonight, and my girlfirend and I were invited. I prepared for the evening by choosing to carry the Glock 26 with my MTAC. I tucked my undershirt over it to hide it a little better, as I didn't know what the bar's policy was. It was hidden rather well, and my girlfriend had even asked if I was carrying before we left the house. After we show up to Howl at the Moon, my friend tells me that her dad gave her some 7th row Pacer's tickets and wanted to know if we wanted to go. We decided to go, as it wasn't costing us anything and we had never been down that close to the court. Before leaving the bar, I ask a few people whether Conseco uses wands or not. They all said that they did not believe so, and that I should be fine with the 26 in the MTAC. As we approach the doors, I see a younger kid waving people down with the wand. I said "This is going to be interesting..." and got a look from my friend. haha That's when I decided to just walk back a couple of blocks and put the 26 in the truck. After finally getting back to the Fieldhouse, the kid asks if I have any metal in my pockets. I pull out my keys and my CRKT K.I.S.S. knife. He about freaks out and says, "Whoa, what was that?" "My pocket knife?" "Yea, can you open it for me real quick?" *I open it* "Was that quick enough...?" He then proceeds to measure it with his pinky finger, and says, "You are going to have to check that." "What...? Are you serious?" "Yea, the blade is too long, you are going to have to check it." "Are you serious...?" "You will get it back." "Are you serious...?" "Here I'll walk over there with you... Oh crap people are coming in... Ummm... Just go ahead..." I NEVER EVEN GOT WAVED DOWN WITH THE WAND! (Which pissed me off after having walked back to the truck to leave it there, all alone, by itself...) He was more concerned with the length of the blade on my pocket knife than anything else I could have been carrying. When we first got there, I had thought about not going back to the truck to leave the 26, just to see what would have happened. I don't get it! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I had a similar experience. Went to Conseco with my sister to see Blue Man Group a couple years ago. I decided to leave my Glock in the car, but forgot I had my Sog Trident folding knife. As we walked in and I saw people being stopped I tossed it in my sister's purse, figuring they wouldn't go looking thru it. We got up to a lady and we spun around for her, then she goes "ma'am, please open your purse". My sister opened her purse with the Trident laying right on top of everything! The lady took one look and said "thanks, go ahead". Got me sweaty for a moment! Nick, when the kid asked to see your knife you should've said "whew! I thought you were gonna ask for my gun!"

I had already planned on being a dick to him, but him wanting me to lose..I mean 'check-in' my knife was just plain stupid and didn't help him out at all. | |

![]() | Actually "checking in" you knife is better than I got last time I went to a concert at the failhouse. I dont remember who I was there to see, but I had forgotten I had a knife on me and was informed that I could "hide it in the bushes" if I wanted, but there was no way I was getting inside with it. Ironically I think it was also the CRKT K.I.S.S. that I was carrying at the time. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Funny story, my wife, 2 of the kids and I went to a Pacers game 2 years ago and i was carrying my KelTec P3AT on an ankle holster and I had to "check" my knife. My wife an boys about laughed their butts off because I had to check my knife but was carrying my gun....It still is funny to everyone. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I was at the Mavericks game Wednesday at Conseco. Of our party of 4, I was the only one that got the wand. I had considered carrying (especially with the Pacers recent reputation...I know, that's a low blow), but decided against it since carrying a CZ-52 concealed isn't exactly that easy without a big sweatshirt. Good thing I didn't, as that would have sent the wand off big time, and we'd have had lots of fun then... I'm not sure what there policy is for using the wand...if its random, based on who they "think" might be carrying, etc.

| Shooter | Another funny story. I was at Kings Island today, and had another issue with my CRKT K.I.S.S. pocket knife. Apparently they have a no knife policy and I can check it or take it back to the truck. I opted to take it back to the truck. I got about 50 yards from the inspection stations and realized that my flashlight in my back pocket hadn't set off the metal detectors, so I decided to try my luck and put it in my pocket and just walk through a different line. Needless to say, it didn't set off the metal detectors... ![]() Also, I ran into Scutter and Spasmo while I was there today. ![]() |

Especially NON-FUNCTIONAL metal detectors. All of this . . . and airport "security" for that matter ... is about making the sheep feel good about themselves.
