![]() | Seeing as my Dad is a cop and on the SOT team, I sure hope he isn't the one in someone sight's who doesn't identify their target. Okay, they raided the wrong house. Your neighbor is cooking meth in his basement and the informant has the wrong address by one house. It is an honest mistake in an attempt to make the world, your city, and your neighborhood safer. So what about this, you open fire on this party. Okay here, SHTF. You've opened up on probably a group of at least 3, maybe up to 10 people armed with superior weapons to yours own (subguns, rifles, shotguns). What happens now? Sorry, but your toast. Your gonna be more full of lead than toys from China. Even if your using castle doctrine okay, but I don't see any confrontation where you are killed as a good one?

| BANNED | I honestly have no reason to believe the police/SWAT/ATF would ever need to make a dynamic entry on my home and therefore, I would only assume the worst if anyone ever did kick down my door. I'd try to make as positive of an ID as I could but who knows what I'd have time to do if I was in fear of my life. I feel safe enough to assume that I'd hear a knock and it would be peaceful, even if my neighbors called saying they saw me walking around with gun cases, etc. outside to and from my car... |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm single and live by myself. If my door gets KICKED DOWN then I will have a weapon drawn and beaded toward the door or any movement within seconds. If i have reason to believe they are police or firemen then that is different, but there is no reason law enforcement should be busting down my door anyways. If I don't get any reasonable explanation of "POLICE" or "FIRE MARSHALL" then i'm definitely going to open fire, and depending on the room im in or weapon i'm near, it's going to consist of a rain of 00 buck, 9mm, and .223. If multiple or armed intruders that do not introduce themselves as police or fire, then I definitely will be making my way to firearms bigger than the 9mm. For a true intruder, I won't stop firing until i'm out of ammo. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I can see both sides of this story. However they were awarded for performing well under fire. It would appear that they used some restraint to me. Anytime no knock warrants are being served, things can go wrong. Mistakes can be made. Does that make it right? No but we are all human. No knock warrants are the exception not the rule as some would like you to think. Great care is required as well as demanded by the courts. In the court system I work under we are required to even have a photo of the front of the place we will be serving the SEARCH warrant on. Also required is a detailed description of the place to be searched and what is to be searching for. But.. all that is only as good as your information. If interested in Indiana Warrants see IC. 35-33-5-7 or IC.35-33-2-3 Ect. As a after thought, the article claimed the person who fired on the police did not understand English. I tend to believe that more than the part that said the police did not announce their authority. I find it highly unlikely any PD would do a no knock warrant service and not announce after entry is made. Just ain't gonna happen folks! Moral to that part of the story, learn the language of the country you are going to be living in. Glad no one was killed. |

| Master ![]() | I need to get a sign for my front door: "If you can read this, you have ALREADY knocked" Because I know the moment you step foot on my property.

![]() ![]() | the more i think of the impostor situation coupled with real life examples, i have no right answer on how to deal with a forced entry by people claiming to be the police, agents, etc. Like techres said, the best is to confirm the raid with the local PD, but you might not have enough time and the PD might not be aware of a legitimate raid as well... |
