![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I had an encounter tonight. I went to the Pacers game tonight. Prior to the game I had parked my vehicle. My son, daughter, and my son's friend and I hiked a couple of blocks to the Circle Center Mall. I was carrying my XD. The mall was almost empty but my daughter had never been there before so we walked around to check it out. My son and his friend stopped at Cinnabon while my daughter and I went to the restrooms. These restrooms are down a hallway and out of the way from the mall itsself. Even though I only had to take a leak I chose 1 of the 2 stalls, the other being the handicapped one. I was very aware of my surroundings and no sooner did I close the door to the stall I heard someone enter, which raised my spidey senses because no one had followed me as I had entered the restroom. I did my business and heard water running at a sink. I delayed for a couple of minutes. After I flushed the toilet I saw a shadow go past my stall into the handicap stall and no sound of the door closing. I exit my stall and keep my eyes on the open door of the handicap stall. Not more than 5 steps out a guy appears and seems surprised that I have my eyes on him. He stutters a bit trying to say something about it being cold outside. I continued exiting the restroom with him following. When he exits, I am maybe 10 paces ahead of him and he says "Hey can I talk to you for a momment?" Without stopping I raise my hand with my palm out in a halt type guesture and I say "NO THANK YOU". He stops and I get another 5 paces distance and as I enter the mall I see my daughter has already made it out. Once the guy enters the mall he quiclky goes in a different direction and disappears. I was mad. Not that it happened to me but that this POS could have come upon someone else who wasn't paying attention and they could have become a victim. What I'd like to know is what did I do right and what did I do wrong? I never felt like I didn't have control but opening my stall, I was probably at my most vunerable. My hand never went to my gun and I never lifted my shirt to expose it. I hope others may learn from this.
