The Mr. & I were just kicking around the idea of both getting our "lifetime" carry permits before Indiana's lifetime LTCHs are possibly repealed. (We've heard unsettling scuttlebutt)
We just about had the whole thing planned...using our anniversary, him taking off the day from work, getting both the permits, going and buying a bunch of ammo, and spending time at the range just pyow pyowing in a celebratory fashion for the day.

Then when I was looking up info on it, I discovered you can't get one if you have a current carry license until it's at least 180 days away from expiration. I have to wait six more months for mine to be that close to expiring...he has to wait a year.

Hope it doesn't get repealed by then...OR that it maybe has a grace period where we'd still slide in under the wire.

I think you will be ok until your current ones expire. I have heard similar scuttlebut but nothing with any credibility.

On the bright side, there is a new IN bill which is posted somewhere around here that would ammend the 180 days to 2 years (IIRC.) I'm waiting in the same boat.

Correct. That would be HB 1126, and if you've not already contacted your legislators to support it, you need to do so. Also contact the chair of the committee on Rules and Legislative Procedures, Rep. GiaQuinta, and express your support for that to him as well. We need this to pass without a bunch of lefty libby amendments. I'm in the same boat as well; I got my LTCH the week before the Lifetime was available.

These are the bills in the statehouse regarding "weapons". The only bills dealing w/ licenses are increasing the time prior to expiration of a 4 yr license for renewal, and one dealing w/ procedures for revoking a license.

I feel you. I have to wait until September to get my lifetime license. On the bright side, though, it will be a great b'day present to give myself.

and people wonder why theres a frenzy of ammo and gun buying. People believe so much non-credible hype. All it takes is one person to say "Obama is a Dem., he's going to take our rights away...buy everything in sight". THen I say"so how do you know he's going to take the guns away." and he says "Um, cuz he's a democrat" Total BS.
