Carry Badges

I was recently in Dons Guns. and Don was trying to sell me a carry badge for I think 50 or 60 bucks. they look like real badges. They come in silver and gold. and he had belt clips or neck straps. I asked Don if this would be considered impersonating a police officer. He said no. His main selling point was, if you were to open carry a lot, people would see the badge and assume you had the right to carry without worry. I did not buy one, and was wondering if anybody else had seen these or would care to comment.
