The article said the Senator was licensed to carry in the State of Illinois. Either the article just plain confused a license to carry with an IL FOID card, or the Senator was able to obtain one because of his pull as a Senator. Of course in Illinois there is a separate set of laws for Senators, so he won't even have a mark on his record when its all said and done. And he's probably an anti-gunner at that.

Typical 'anti' for you. His theory is the cops can protect us, but he might have to fend for himself..

Oh, I wouldn't call him "typical" as most Anti2A's I know have a unfounded fear of gun and won't touch them. He's definitely hypocritical, and the worst kind of Anti2A, and I hope the DA throws the book at him.

People.. You CAN get a license to carry in Ill., even in Chicago... They're just next to impossible to obtain.

He claimed to be working for a security company which probably has some nice little exception to the law. He is anti-gun as I discovered here:

Trotter voted against allowing Illinoisans to carry concealed weapons - Sun-Times Politics

Illinois law allows a security guard to carry to and fro work. You must have several steps taken first, including obviously a FOID card, the blue card that denotes a state background check, pass a certified course, and have a letter from your employer stating that you are working as a security guard.

If you get caught carrying on a Sunday afternoon at the mall in mufti with your kids and wife tagging along it might be difficult to justify that you are either going to or coming home from work.

Illinois does have firearm carry permits. NOT for citizens, but for government "leaders". Takes lots of political clout to get one. The funny thing is that an assistant ward alderman had one and he was a felon. so wrong, so wrong.

One hypocritical senator down (at least for a few more hours) and lots more to go! Pity the rest aren't stupid enough to get charged with felonies doing what they say nobody (read: non-ruling class, common schmucks) should be able to do. :twocents:
