![]() | Questions about where I can legally carry I have read the state statutes about the places that are off limits for carrying a firearm and I know that you can't carry anywhere that is a school, airport secure area, riverboat casino, any federal building, courthouse, etc, etc, etc. What I'm wondering and not completely clear about is carrying at work. I don't want to simply relinquish my right to protect and leave my gun at home while I'm at work. I know that the 10th circuit court recently rendered a decision stating that employers in Oklahoma can't prohibit their employees from keeping the firearm locked in their vehicle while at work, but I am unclear what the law is in Indiana regarding this. Does Indiana have a law that says I can't do this. Another related question: I work as a mental health therapist at a hospital and sometimes find myself having to go to local schools for case conference meetings with patients families, teachers, etc. I am well aware of the law that I cannot carry my weapon in a school and in no way want to break the law, but what do I do with my firearm when I'm there for a case conference or other meeting. Is it illegal to keep it locked in my car when I am there. Obviously, I'm not going to hide it under a bush before I enter the parking lot and I can't keep it at work in my office. Unfortunately, I work a considerable distance from where I live, so it's not really practical to drop it off at home either.
