![]() | I don’t open carry any more because of an incident shortly after I first started carrying. I was in the mall and had a security officer come up to me and ask me if I would conceal my gun because people had reported a person with a gun and where nervous. The officer was very respectful about the situation. She was a full time officer in Indy just working a part time job. She said that she knew it was not against the law to open carry and that I didn’t have to leave, but would prefer I conceal my weapon. Most of my LE friends and customers ask the same that people conceal there weapons, because yes they do get reports of people with a gun. They say almost 100% of the time the person is a law abiding citizen and has a permit, but it still takes time out of there schedule to deal with something that turned out to be nothing. Most of the officers I know conceal when they carry off duty. Those who don’t also display their badges when they open carry off duty. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This is a topic we discuss frequently in the Indiana Clubhouse at Glock Talk. I carry openly sometimes, usually any time I think it is prudent to do so and I have no pressing need to conceal. We even have gatherings in the Indy area (usually in Speedway) where all in attendance carry openly. I didn't read through the whole topic, so someone else may have mentioned it. |

![]() | I don't. I'd really like to arrange a South Bend open-carry dinner though. Get a group of 12-15 guys (and gals) and grab a bite to eat somewhere. Even though I don't OC, I would in this situation. I think it's good for people to see normal, law-abiding, responsible citizens like us with firearms. Little by little, we can wipe away that "only bad people and cops have guns" attitude. |

![]() | If any of you have an incident you can reference where a bad guy takes an openly carried pistol away from a non LEO please post it for review. Even though I may not have time to talk to folks who may ask I do not try to hide my pistol when I am in public. Educating the public may be best by impression of normal activity through the day without requiring a mag dump on a parking meeter. Here is a thought. It does not belong on the table. Treat the pistol and the way it is carried as though it is not an issue and off the table. |

| Expert | CC here. I wouldn't even consider open carry, I simply do not want the attention.... too many nutbags shooting places up lately, don't want people thinking I'm one of them.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Open carry would be fine if i was older. Since im only 20 years old, i would get bad looks everywhere. Now a 40 year old could do it without the looks i would get. I wouldnt mind open carrying if i was with other people who were.
