![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nominations for INGO LEO Appreication Award INGO Law Enforcement Officer Appreciation Award As members of INGunOwners.com, and as men and women that value the 2nd Amendment, we, as a whole, tend to be very critical of any and all interactions we have with law enforcment officers. We have, unfortunately, been personally involved in, or read about, or heard on the news, efforts by law enforcment officials to undermine our right to arms. Sometimes this comes as an entire administration attempting to enforce laws that are unconstitutional, and other times it comes as a lone officer hassling a gun-toting citizen for exercising his rights. Whatever the case may be, incidents like these have left a bad taste in the mouth of those who believe in the right to bear arms. But, with the advent of INGO, and the ability to share these stories to a broad audience of Hoosiers, we have seen another trend emerge-- one that is much more positive. We have seen incidents in which an administration or lone officer has acted with respect to the 2nd Amendment, and to our rights in general. Stories of incidents such as these should be recognized, as we too often judge our local law enforcement officers in broad strokes based on the negative stories we hear. In an effort to officially recognize these hard-working and rights-respecting officers of the law, INGO would like to hear about your positive interactions with the local law enforcement. Nominations can be made in this thread. Please keep it "essay" style, as one-name nominations won't help. Please give a detailed accounting of the interaction, as well as explain why you feel they deserve special recognition. Of course we will also need the officer's name, department, and badge number, if possible. I will do my best to come up with an appropriate award and official letter of appreciation, to be sent to the officer's superiors, in hopes that it will be kept in the officer's long-term file. Let's see those nominations! ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Really that is all that needs to be said. I think we are all very aware of the many things he has done for the protection of 2nd Amendment rights, as well as bridge the gap between LEO and "regular guy" training.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Around 9 pm tonight, I was pulled over by Patrolman John Wallace. C239 Southeast district. After asking me for my license and reg, I informed him that I was carrying. I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't been open carrying, but I figured he'd see the rather large full size 1911 when I went for the wallet. He asked me to exit the vehicle and took care not to point the firearm at me or anything else besides the ground. He called for a second vehicle as I'm sure is customary. Second officer arrived and they ran the serial number. After being satisfied with my gun and permit, he asked me to pop the hatch of my car and placed my unloaded firearm, full mag and my +1 at the rear of the car. He told me I could hop out, reload and reholster after he and his fellow officer left. I thanked him and asked him for his information so I could call his superiors and commend him for treating me with respect. He told me both he and his friend supported the second amendment and citizens who carry. I thanked him and he thanked me. Grade A officer in my book. I felt I was treated with a great deal of respect. He also let me off with a warning since I cooperated and was polite in return. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd like to nominate IMPD Det. Ed Brickley. Though I don't have a 2nd amendment related story, I feel he is deserving based on several factors: 1. His demeanor and attitude - He is one of the nicest human beings you will ever meet and would give you the shirt off his back. 2. His involvement in the community - He coaches bantam football in Center Grove and all the kids love him because he genuinely cares about them and shows it. 3. He always exhibits exemplary character - You will not hear him speak ill of anyone in public, regardless of how he feels personally. He is constantly aware that he has a duty as a LEO and citizen to set an example for both children and adults.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I second Sheriff Ken Campbell. No single person in Indiana law enforcement is so well known for his support of the citizens right to carry, and aquire quality training. Additionally, in his local venue, he opens the department range to many youth organizations to spread knowledge and passsion for gun ownership. I realize there are a lot of good LE guys in Indiana supporting 2A, but Ken takes it to a new level, not only living it, but promoting it. That's my vote. Tinman.... |
