Yep. Plus the iPods with BlueTooth tech can be used. There's even vids floating around YouTube about how to hack into a cell call with your player, and how to turn a phone into a wireless mouse to control a computer that's not right infront of you.
Freaky stuff.
Secure yours.

Imagine this: you have camera's IN YOUR HOME in case someone breaks in... a theif with a laptop and wireless reciever(OR YOUR NEIGHBORS) can pick up the feed. They can see what your camera sees. Even a decent cracker can break into your network and see your stored videos. I say Cracker because there is a BIG difference between hacker and cracker.

Anyway, wireless cameras are very convienent especially in Rural areas. But in the suburbs or in the city/town they are very dangerous. CCTV cameras are your only secure choice. I had a friend show me how to steal someone's feed and it's as easy as setting up your own reciever and tuning it to the proper channel. You can even use a PDA with any wireless reciever or a wireless network finder to find a wireless network.

So if you live in town or a neighborhood PLEASE don't use wireless cameras! I used to set up survailence equipement for friends, family and small buisnesses. Just so you don't think this info is poorly informed info. This is for you and your family's safety.
Since you used to install this type equipment, can you help a novice?

My fiance` thinks I`m paranoid, or at least that, I worry too much. I did buy her a Ruger SP101 .357 and load it with .38 spls +p ammo, and she accepts that is a good thing to have near at night when I`m not around. Other than that, I`ll likely have to talk long and hard to get her to accept motion detected lights, much less cams, but-providing I can get her to go for that, how can a guy like me, who know`s nothing about wiring, get the job done myself?

It depends on alot of things. Do you have an attic? what kind of system are you installing? Do you rent or own? Is it going to be a PC based system or run off of a regular TV? There's a lot of different variables involved. If you seriously want and need my help, email me at tha.daddy@yahoo.com with specifics and such. I can come help you or show you the best way for your situation. Everyone's needs are different as is their situation.

A naked woman with a gun in her hand would be the best defense against a male intruder. He would be so distracted he wouldn't know what to do!!!

I've taken to having a pair of cargo pants on my dresser. J frame in the right pocket, two speed loaders( left thigh), Leather TAC holster for my bedside pistol( S&W M&P with M-6), two spare mags (Left pocket), Buck Strider 110 (clipped to back pocket), KA BAR TDI on my belt, 6PL in left back pocket ,SureFire E1B, cellphone holster and my wallet (right thigh) on my dresser. Next to that is my 2nd Chance IIIA with Plate and a L1 Digi luminax. The Long Guns and spare ammo are nearby. I look to be adding a Surefire X300 for the M&P and CT grips for the J frame.

IDCC: Not a bad plan. After talking to someone else who's judgment I trust a similar setup is at my home now as well. He referred to it as "fireman prepared"
