The correct answer is False and they write: "Possession or use of a weapon is cause for immediate discipline action including but not limited to suspension."

So now you know have the answer, straight from the Dean of Students.

"Your Honor, the Dean of Students' website specifically included the declarative sentence, "You are allowed to have a handgun on campus if you have a valid Indiana gun permit."(sic) I just did what the handbook said I can do.

Interesting point is that they cannot press for legal penalties as it is a school policy and not a criminal act. Myself and I have spoken to the highest of adminstrative personnel on this matter and the response is two fold. 1st "over my dead body" quote from Dean Whitney. 2nd is the surprise that a student who had a lawful carry permit was not arrested last fall when they were found with their weapon.

I'm now an adunct faculty at Ivy tech in Lafayette, I feel your pain, when I attended classes at ivy tech Fort Wayne I was told leave it in the car, and don't give me a reason to search your car, hopefully Students for concealed carry on campus can have effect on new legislators in 2010, till then either risk it or get good at throwing rocks

As i understand it, a similar 'ban' happened at VT months prior to the incident there. Granted, IUPUI has had this rule in place for some time.

But i didn't. I was implying that if i do ask about it, they'll frisk me 'just to be safe'.

And lord knows, when you don't consent to a search, the police ask why, and everyone thinks you have something *even if you don't*.
