![]() | The inevitable Campus Carry. So i'm a student at IUPUI. I won't disclose if i've been concealed-carrying a firearm around campus or not. My question is about this statement: 'The decision to prohibit weapons (except in the hands of trained law enforcement personnel) on campus makes the IUPUI community a safer place.' Source: No-Guns-On-Campus As i understand it, a similar 'ban' happened at VT months prior to the incident there. Granted, IUPUI has had this rule in place for some time. What are the possible repercussions of carrying on-campus? I'm reluctant to ask any of the faculty for fear of being frisked and detained. I ask because this semester i'm taking a night class. Call me paranoid, but parking lots aren't the safest place, and though the campus is essentially it's own neighborhood, the surrounding ones aren't so serene. Moreover, even if i stored my carry piece in my car, i'd have to *get* to it first.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Creating "victim" zones by prohibiting firearms does nothing to stop the criminal from killing people. In fact, it has the opposite effect. If you want to kill lots of people befor you encounter any armed resistance, were are you going to go? To victim zones. These victim zones are nothing more than a feel good effort for the sheeple. |

| RATED TVMA ![]() | I have attended Ivy Tech and plan to again in the future. I've had my vehicle broken into in the school parking lot. Would not feel comfortable leaving a firearm in the vehicle. As for carrying. They say concealed means concealed. If caught I'm sure you would be expelled. I do not know if it would affect your chances of admission to another school though.

![]() | Well, i don't plan on walking into campus with an AR on my back and two pistols on my waist. So i've elected to attend a college that restricts my ability to protect myself? Marvelous.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There is a phrase that rears its head on this forum from time to time and seems appropriate here. Concealed means concealed.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There is always the possibility of taking classes online, which makes your home your classroom and limits the amount of time you have to spend on campus. It does require the self-discipline to actually do the classwork when you don't have a professor and a class to motivate you on a daily basis, but IMHO, it means you get the official stamp of approval on your education and don't have to make a victim of yourself to get it. Win/win, I'd say. Blessings, Bill

At least there is nothing criminal in any of those words... The less you say, in and out of class, the better. Avoid all temptations to set people right, period. Be careful and be safe.
